When the owners sought out John Witt and his team to design them a house off the grid, they knew exactly what they wanted. And they knew that Witt Construction of Saratoga Springs was the company for the job. As well as designing the structure, the homeowners wanted the company to build it as well.
Not too far from the city of Saratoga Springs—just about four miles—is an 80-acre wooded site that has the feel of an ancient landscape. The site features lots of trees, stone walls, and off to the east there are big views of the city and hilly Vermont.
Located on a quiet side street in Saratoga Springs, NY, this cottage-like John Witt-designed home makes an architecturally significant but unpretentious statement to visitors and passersby. The home’s cottage style, reminiscent of Saratoga homes with a bit of coastal Maine in the mix, is all about the details.
